A welcome from Phoenix

Hello, we are Phoenix and the group consists of Bonnie Nicholson, Rachael Morris, Isabelle Henton, Josh Gale and Jack Moore.

Our project title is ‘Levels of freedom and permission for young people in Mexico’

We were originally paired up with a group of Mexican peers that wanted us to focus on Regional Music in the United Kingdom. However, after some thought on this, we felt that as a group we didn’t have enough knowledge on the subject of regional music and that family values suited us all more as it is such a broad topic to choose from.

Nevertheless, to help out our Mexican group we decided it was only fair to dedicate our blog to regional music in order to help them out with their project. Therefore, the blog includes a short paragraph from each of us with any information on regional music from our hometowns. We have also linked the blog to festivals and how this, for young people in England, is seen as a step towards our freedom and independence, which too links in with our topic title.

Initially, we struggled trying to decide how to break down the question into different sections but after a lot of thought we decided on three main points so that we would have enough time to elaborate on each one. The first one being ‘Religion and Freedom’, within this we have included facts on contraception, how abortion is perceived in the Church and statistics on the Birth rate in Mexico. Our second point is ‘Social freedoms of young adults and Permissiveness of parents in Mexico and the UK’, this will include social events and the comparison of the freedom teenagers have in the UK compared to those in Mexico. Finally, the third point will focus on the analysis of family roles in Mexico, within this point we have also decided to focus on divorce and marriage.
